Parish Life During A Pandemic

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Dearest Parishioners,

I truly believe that as a parish we have been weathering the pandemic better than most.  Most of us are healthy, able to attend or dispensed from attending, and are growing in union with Jesus Christ.  Thank you to all who have been so hopeful and helpful these past few months!  A few reminders:

-God and his mission are not hindered in the least by even the most evil of circumstances in the world.

-Trying times can be opportunities to carry our cross and assist one another in carrying theirs.

-St. Mary’s, our parish, is here to be a locus and resource of prayer, community and reception of the Life-giving Mysteries (Sacraments).

- We acknowledge that this pandemic has required adaptation of our usual parish life, and I pray we are adapting well and according to Our Lord’s guidance.  (Please share any ideas you prayerfully thought of to continue to respond to the needs of the faithful)

-Our parish’s specific dispensation from Sunday obligation ends July 31st, so please communicate with Father Michael if you are unable to attend Sunday Divine Liturgies after this month.  Father can hear your situation and give personal dispensation if needed.

-Let’s continue to pray for and keep in touch with each other!

New Parish Website and Emails

Our old parish website has become obsolete and we have been unable to update it in the way that contemporary parish life demands.

So…our new website is www.ByzantineLA.com!  Check it out!  Parts are still under construction, but it is up and running.  Give us any feedback you may have so that we can make sure it is relevant to our lives and faith.  Thank you to Steve Scott for all of his work in setting it up, and to Anne Seabright for helping to maintain it!  Father Michael will keep his personal email address, but please update the following parish email addresses:

Administration (Currently Anne Seabright):  admin@byzantinela.com

Pastor (Currently Father Michael):  pastor@byzantinela.com
